I try to help

This is my blog there are many like it on the Internet, but this one is mine.

My name is Andrei Băltuță and I am a web developer with over 7 years of experience. I attempt to make the web better and to guide others to do the same. I like to make things light and lean.

  • Currently a freelancer. I'm always open to new opportunities.
  • Working on a Employer-of-Record start-up called Spinach.
  • Was a Software Architect at Pentalog Cluj.
  • I've kickstarted and have organized a bi-weekly meetup inside Pentalog Cluj dubbed: Javascript Anonymous (JSA).
  • Speaker at the 2019 edition of iJS: "JS Sucks: 20+ years of work in progress".
  • Speaker at the 2019 edition of CodeCamp Cluj: "JS Sucks: 20+ years of work in progress".
  • Speaker at the 2018 edition of CodeCamp Cluj: "Bringing an enterprise application into the modern web".
  • Held off of using JavaScript at all on my own site.
  • Wrote a static site generator just for this blog. It may be public one day.
  • Took me 10 minutes to find the heart emoji since I don't use them.

This blog doesn't include any JavaScript?

I really wanted to make something light and quick, easy to read. My focus was to have my website be thoughtful about other people's data usage, especially those on mobile. I wanted to have a really low footprint so that anyone, on any device can read this, even with JavaScript off!

Most people tend to forget how powerful our platform is without JavaScript and want to shoehorn "features" everywhere. I wanted this to be simple, and small.

The syntax highlighting is generated by piggybacking off of VSCode's syntax highlighter. I chose this because alternatives such as highlight.js and prism.js didn't handle TypeScript all that well. If you're looking for such a package shiki is amazing for this.

I like the language and the ecosystem, in spite of all its warts. However, for the past 5 years I've only used TypeScript.

I have experience with both React and Angular, but I'd like to further explore Svelte or Solid as they seem to be closer to a simpler, smaller bundle sized web.

Whoa, you're cool!
